Bojnice Museum invites the public to a lecture by archivist Marek Púčik, MA, PhD, who will explore the origins and transformations of Bojnice Calvary.
Its Origins, Founder, Reconstruction and Craftsmen
The origins of the Calvary above the spa in Bojnice predate the construction of its seven chapels in 1815–1816. It was founded during this challenging period by a remarkable man, Ondrej Csicsmányi, an official of the Bojnice estate. Its masonry structures were built by Karol Zmeškal, master mason of the Bojnice estate, son of a Moravian mason and Leopold, the burghermaster of Bojnice.
Over the following 210 years, numerous other craftsmen contributed to its restoration and alteration. Among them were Šimon Rajnoha, a Moravian carpenter and long-serving burghermaster of Bojnice, and the son of the Moravian painter of Dutch origin, Lambert van Bokkelen, who bore the same name as his father.

The lecture will be held in Slovak only.
