About the event

The message and traditions of the All Souls

The Slovak National Museum – Bojnice Castle Museum cordially invites all visitors to a unique evening tour of Bojnice Castle under the name Svetlonos na Bojnice Castle. This year, the museum has prepared an interesting program for visitors, which will revive the traditions and customs associated with the period of All Souls’ Day and All Saints’ Day.

During the tour, guests will learn the fascinating stories of the Light Bearer, a wanderer from European folklore, and his connection to the light that attracts travelers. Together with the lecturer, visitors will discover the secrets of the funeral ceremonies of high-ranking nobles, such as Count Ján Pálfi, and find out what meanings are hidden behind the traditional celebrations and customs of our ancestors.

As part of the tour, visitors will visit the Central Castle and at the end, they will wake up at the sarcophagus of Count Pálfi, where they will be reminded of the importance of the Memorial of the Deceased. The evening tour will be enriched with history and customs that shaped our culture.
